View into Warner Springs

Warner Spring

Well, I have made it into Warner Springs safe and sound, but I have some issues to attend to prior to leaving.

I know everyone is tired of hearing about my feet, but for some inexplicable reason they are having problems like they never did on the AT, and are pretty agonizing to walk on right now. Today's 18 miles was brutal, so tomorrow I have to go find medicine in this one store town. My brother now calls me "Walks with Tenderfoot."

On a happier note, I had my first wildlife encouter of significance today....a big Horney Toad. I hobbled after him, but he was just too damn fast. He was a handsome fella though, and I think I got some good pictures.

After coming off the mountain this morning, I made it into Barrel Spring, and took a 30 min rest before proceeding to Eagle Rock. These are pretty cool rocks shaped just like, you guessed it...an eagle.

The final four miles were tough, taking me almost three hours. Even during what I refer to as "the hike of profanity," I was still amazed by the barren rolling hills that allowed me to see for miles. One of the coolest things about this trail is that you can see where you are going for miles, and sometimes where you have been for days.

Another Journey

Over time, it really does become more about the journey and not the destination.
