Chick Magnet

Chick Magnet

The day in Aqua Dulce was spent doing chores. Box Packer and I spent at least an hour working on drop boxes and schedule coordination. I also stripped my pack, everything in it, and washed and dried it. It was the first time I had done that on this trip. The salt and dirt in the straps and padding were making it stiff, and it was beginning to rub a little.

I also picked up a little food, and went through some new gear I had sent ahead. I am very excited about my new Injinji socks. My old ones could actually stand on their own, and the holes had formed one giant hole on the bottom of each sock. Basically, just my toes were covered.

I just have to comment on this trail hostel run by the Saufley's. They are traveling, but still gave a total stranger total access to their property, and their home is amazing. In today's environment, I think it is rare to meet people that are this selfless and giving to total strangers. Their home and yard are organized and spotless, and roaming about the property is a small pack of friendly rescued animals they have adopted, including two well cared for draft horses kept at the back of the property.

There are numerous people staying here pet and house sitting, and they are as pleasant and accomodating as I imagine the Saufley's must be. If you read this Donna and Jeff, thank you for everything.

The picture attached is that of Chick Magnet. He was a pleasure to converse with during my stay, and really a lot of fun. I wish him all the best in his healing process. I am sure he will make great progress north once he is back on his feet. Take care Chick!

Goodnight

Over time, it really does become more about the journey and not the destination.
