Me 2000 Mile Mark

2000 Miles

Today we reached the 2000 miles mark on the trail. Its is hard to believe that I still have 660 plus miles left. Compared to the AT I would almost be finished. It was very hot today and real dusty. Water was scare to boot.

Neighbor's decided to moon the 2000 mile mark while Slider was taking a picture. The funniest part of this incident was the reaction of the other hiker's faces. I wish I could have gotten a picture of that. I'll keep it PG and thankfully I only got the side view.

When I arrived at the road I saw a cooler. Inside where ice cold sodas and homemade chocolate chip cookies. The hitch was easy into Bend - 5 minutes tops. Ron was pulling a travel trailer with his king cab pickup truck so it was easy for Slider, Thrust, and I fit in. I asked Ron if the Post Office in Sister was far of the way, and he offered to stop there.

I'm glad that we did because my drop package wasn't there so I needed to buy some supplies in Bend. Bum deal though because 3 of my 4 packages where now in postal hell. We received a call from JB who had stayed in Sisters by himself and was headed towards Bend also so we stopped in a town and they picked up up.

Aaron & Lauren had just finished hiking the Appalachian Trail a couple of weeks ago. They where more than happy to drive us around on our errands. The first stop was REI to get some replacement gear. Afterwards Wal-Mart for a quick resupply. I cringed as I had no choice. My drop package was in postal hell and I could ask them to run me around to another store. Then they dropped us off at the Super 8 Motel. JB offered to buy Aaron & Lauren dinner, so they we ate dinner together later after we cleaned up.
