Sunset at Lake Aloha

Leaving Tahoe crowds

After two days in Tahoe, I was beginning to feel stressed by the large numbers of people, and the noise. The good food no longer outweighed the negatives of being in town. Time to hit the trail again! The boys took forever to pack up, so we didn't get to Echo Lake until 4 pm. After a long goodbye to Chuck & Tigger, I headed out, paralleling Echo Lakes at first, then climbing through a series of junctions to other lake trails. At evening, the guys & I reached Lake Aloha--simply too stunning at sunset to pass on camping there. We found some dirt patches on the granite rocks right next to the lake. From a practical standpoint it was probably not the best camp: dewy & cold, but from an aesthetic view, it couldn't have been better.
