Here is the semi-inaugural blog posting. We haven't left yet, but we will soon, and i figured we should get this party started. Here are some things that should be kept in mind about the blog:
1. we won't be able to update it hugely often. most of the time we won't have easy internet access, so you're probably looking at once a week, if that.
2. while we do have a digital camera with us, we're not bringing our cable, because we don't really have anywhere to store the pictures. every once in a while, we may be able to give you some photos, but please don't expect them.
3. the really neat thing about this blogsite is the link to googlemaps on the left (where it says Pacific Crest Trail Map). you can use that to keep track of us, sort of. If we update our position, a little arrow will appear on the map to show where we are. there is also a link to the guestbook, please leave us as many messages as you'd like. We'll be checking and we'd like to keep track of all of you as well!
4. entry #1 is our approximate intinerary. If all goes according to Brent's carefully arranged plan (which it won't, but that's okay) this is another way to keep track of where we'll be.
And since we really won't be able to post too many pictures from the trail, here are some pictures from before we leave home. The gear-pile, which we'll be strapping to our backs and walking around with, and the box-pile, which we've spent the last few months filling with almost everything we're going to consume and carry for the next 5 months, and some of those boxes are HEAVY!
Anyway, wish us luck! We're heading out in just a few days!
