More desert

It's amazing how many little critters are crawling around in the desert. We've seen lots of horny toads, all kinds of lizards, really dumb beetles (we have a picture of one standing on his head in the sand, not really sure why) and snakes. We've seen lots of cool snakes - zebra snakes, bull snakes, a couple if rattlers, and a really beautiful long green snake.

In terms of vegetation, there's lots of chaparral bush, we've seen some eucalyptus trees, and something that looks like maybe a cedar tree, but the wood doesn't smell like cedar, so we're not sure what it is.

There's actually a lot of plants in bloom right now - much of the cacti, some shrubs that kind of look like petunias (!), evening primrose, and datura, to name a few.

Today was pretty hot again, but we found what seemed like the only campsite for miles underneath a big cottonwood tree in Nance canyon. There was a nice big bed of sand, that felt great to walk around on barefoot, and nice for sleeping on too...
