Blowout Mountain

Woke up thirsty like I figured I would and headed down the trail. After about a mile and a half I found the spring I was looking for last night. It seems there is an Arch Rock Way trail and an Arch Rock Shelter trail and I was at the wrong one when looking for the spring. I drank up, laughed at myself, and headed on.

About 5 miles later I came to a beautiful cabin at government meadow. I stopped and had breakfast there sitting on the porch overlooking a wide meadow. After breakfast I hit the trail again.

The trail today did lots of ups and downs going over several passes. Spent the day crossing through clear cuts both young and old. No matter what woodland section you were in the trees of that section were always the same size. There was one 13 mile waterless stretch today.

I think I walked by more huckleberries today than even I could image. There were tons of them everywhere. This left the dilemma should I eat or should I walk. Walking won out but I did manage to scoop up some berries every now and then. It took a bit of practice but I was able to get a few berries as I walked without breaking stride.

Great views of the valleys today with Mt. Rainer taking it. Had a few drops of rain this evening and it is sprinkling a bit now. Expecting it to clear up by tomorrow.

For breakfast I had cranberry bulgar. For lunch I had curry rice salad and tuna on a tortilla. For dinner I had cranberry bacon rice. It was very good.
