Post hike Thoughts
It is tough to sum up a journey of over 2600 miles in a few words but I'll try anyway.
The PCT is such a diverse trail with sections in the desert, the valleys, the mountains, and the high mountains. I was told the trail goes through seven distinct ecosystems.
People invariably ask what section was your favorite. While there are sections that just seemed to resonate a little more than others I suspect the question is like asking a parent which child is there favorite. The answer is there can not be one. I found it is the trail in its entirety that I liked.
There were many difficult times and even some difficult days, but I find that those were only a small percentage of the trip. Also with time, the difficult parts fade and the wonderful parts dominate the memory - it a great trait that humans have forgetting the hardships.
I am going to attempt to take a few thing away from the trail. This is a paraphrase from what I wrote in the register at the trails end:
Marvel at the beauty that surounds you. Live your life simply. Live your life purposefully.
