Desert Day
Wasn't planning a town stop, but I'm not complaining! Today was a very long hot decent down from fuller ridge. I had enough water, but 96 degree water is not very satisfying. The water fountain at snow canyon has a rent-a-cop and no shade. Filled up my water bottles and hiked on. Met Shorty at the gate for gatorade, but still no shade. It's killer hot! Slogged through the 3 miles of wash to I-10 and collapsed in the shade under the interstate underpass! Reaper and Hot Pants had a cooler of water and mountain dews which was good even without ice. Thanks again Reaper. Shorty waited for Rockstar, then took me and the canadians to Cabazon for hamburgers and shakes compliments of Snuffy. Awesome trail magic. Thank you Snuffy! No maildrop for the canadians, so we took them to Palm Springs for a motel and stayed ourselves. Yeah! Pool, hot tub, happy hour, dinner at Billy's Restaurant and a soft bed. OK, maybe this is just too plush. NOT! It was hot out there! Really hot! I was planning 10 more miles today, but I'm not sorry! Canada will still be there.
