PCT Southern Terminus
Run For The Border
Our friend Drew picked us up and gave us a ride to Campo. We got Subway sandwiches along the way for lunch and dinner. As we approached Campo, the Border Patrol was in full force.After the usual pictures at the southern terminus, we were on our way by 1:30pm. It was warm but quite breezy as we started. We made our way past Campo and to the mountains. The terrain was not what we expected. There is lots of lichen covered granite bolders and we spent the afternoon hiking through them. We saw many lizards and a few ground squirrels.
Eric enjoyed hiking in his kilt with all the heat. We are now perched near the top of hill having dinner with a celebratory first day beer courtesy of Phil and Donna.
