Just Made It

Had the most amazing breakfast at the Grizzly Manor Cafe where the waitress was challenging hikers to eat more. She offered up free 1ft round pancakes to people with really large meals if they could finish. I ordered the Polar Bear while others ordered the Blob and the Mess. The Polar Bear was 2 1ft wide pancakes with eggs, bacon and hashbrowns which was served on two separate plates. Gino had a waffle with strawberries.

We caught a ride back to the trail head courtersy of the hostel owner. He offers free rides to and from trailheads. It's great business for him during the snow off season. It was very quiet in the vehicle as a group of us headed out for the trail. We were sad to leave Big Bear!

Started at the trailhead at about 11am and hiked until dark where we reached a great little campsite complete with water, a fire pit, table and pit toilet! Had left over pizza for dinner.

The moon has been bright at night but we pull our beanies over our eyes. This works well but can also mask the first light of the day when we want to be waking up and getting back on the trail.

Reddy and Silver Fox also returned to the trail today but in a different spot, hwy18. They are 14 miles ahead of us.
