Tangello from a Turtle Fellow

Left our little camp high above the lake at about 7:10am. Passed up our first water source this morning by accident. It was just a sluggish little seasonal stream anyway so we trudged on instead of making a trip back just for water. Crossed paths with Turtle Don again and he gave us the best tasting orange. A little bit later we came across a wonderful little spring. Stopped there and enjoyed a nice snack break with plenty of fresh cool agua.

As we gaze, trip, and plod across this land we are amazed at the new delights we find. Today had some beautiful vistas of barren volcanic hill slopes, slow growing fir and pine forests, and wildflower dotted grassy meadows. Springs a plenty here. Always a nice surprise to come across a sweet little meadow and see darlingtonia growing deep within in. There is water not far away! Sweet, delicious HOH.

Mosquito Creek sounds gnarly, but it is great! No mosquitos! Just a very nice campsite and one of the cute lil meadows with a luscious spring dawdling through it.

We talked of the Buddha today. Buddha said "Death is the greatest teacher." Buddhists frequently remind themselves of the impermanence of this life and their inevitable departure from it. In a way it's like doing your homework because you know there is a due date. We all have a due date. But will the assignment be turned in? The homework of a Buddhist I suppose would be to prepare for a joyful, serene, and fearless death.
