Vermillion Valley Resort

VVR

I got up late as I only had a mile to hike that morning til the ferry. I said goodbye to Sean and headed out. I quickly came to the Ferry landing and waited around for 1.5 hours. Several other hikers and fishermen eventually joined me. One of them with AT&T coverage allowed me to make a call since Verizon doesn't have coverage here. Sean had asked me to call his resupply person to get them to mail out his next box. The boat was ontime and we had a quick journey across the lake. Unlike the previous 2 years, the lake level was pretty normal this year.

At Vermillion Valley Resort(VVR) I ordered breakfast and found Rocky Raccon (he had hiked in that morning rather then paying for the ferry). We hung out all day eating, reading, and watching TV. The afternoon ferry brought more thru-hikers including Donavan and Joey and I saw more hikers then i've seen since Aqua Dulce. I found the imfamous Chopper doing work for stay along with his brother. I was really surprised that I caught up to them since most of the stories I've heard were from weeks ahead of me. They were apparently stuck in the VVR vortex. I really enjoyed Roy's cooking and was sorry to hear he had tomorrow off. I slepted in a tent cabin that night and enjoyed having a real mattress with Gino and Lionheart.

A Walk North On The PCT - 2009

One small step for man, but I'll walk even farther for a burger.

The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. Join the PCTA to support this trail.
