Peter Grub Hut
Left Pooh's Corner
Pooh's Corner was shutting down for a few days, and except for those going into Reno with Pooh to go to REI, the rest of us were leaving. As I left the trailhead, I spotted Magic Man's car driving up the road. I thought of walking the 5minutes back to get a cold gatoraid, but voted against it. The other hikers hadn't left yet, so they scored.
After a few miles and passing the I-80, I came to the Peter Grub Hut. It was a cool shelter that can be rented out in the winter. The upper story has a door so you can get in when the hut is burried under 10ft of snow. I had an early lunch there with Sean, Frank (a girl), and Double Barrel. After getting water at the nearby creek, some horse riders came up and they walked their horses upstream to let them drink. I was glad that I already filled my water bottles before they showed up.
The hillsides were covered in wild flowers and it was gorgeous. I camped a couple of miles short of Jackson Meadow's Resevoir.
A Walk North On The PCT - 2009
One small step for man, but I'll walk even farther for a burger.
