I got up and moved with purpose. The trail was mostly downhill and there was a town ahead of me. I passed by Whisky Jet and company who were just stirring at 8am in their camp at C.R.H.T. (some trail jct). I made it down to the trailhead by 10am. I had some bars on my cell phone despite being warned by Pooh that I shouldn't even expect it so I called the Braatens and made arrangements to be picked up at Belden Town Resort. While I waited I had ice cream. Just as my ride arrived, Hat Man Doo and Happyfeet showed up and we all got a ride to the Post Office and then their home.
We got cleaned up and then walked the narrow and dangerous road to the campground resturant nearby and had lunch. The milkshakes were good as was my club sandwich. I ordered a chef's salad to go so I'd have dinner. I should have bought more soda as I craved some latter back at the home.
As the Braatens would be gone until late morning, we made arrangements with the neighbor to take us back to the trail at 6:30am as we wanted to do the big climb out of town in the cool of the morning. I'm hating this trend of having to drop to low elevations to go into town only to climb back up to the crest when we leave.
Ryan showed up in the afternoon. I hadn't seen him since Pooh's Corner when he left with Pooh to go into Reno to visit REI. Little John and Giggles also showed up, but they only stayed during the heat of the day and then chose to hike out in the late afternoon after a thunder shower cooled everything off.
A Walk North On The PCT - 2009
One small step for man, but I'll walk even farther for a burger.
