Rae Lakes after Glenn Pass (northbound)

Day 47- Glen Pass

This morning I met a PCT hiker as he went by my camp (Marco). I didn't get his age and info since was going by- he was looking to head into Independence today to meet Lightfeather (another hiker I'd met earlier on the trail). It was climbing right away- I had to climb to 12,000 feet today. Just before I hit Glen Pass I heard some voices but I couldn't see anyone. Then I came up over some steep rocks and there they were!! I was so shocked- it was Reddy (male 30 Fresno), MisInformation (female 24 Portland), Bonaza Jellybean (female 22 Seattle) and Lucky Larry (male 34 Colorado)!! I recognized Reddy immediately and he said, "Is that you Censored? You're alive!" They had heard of my 911 call and wondered what happened. They are such good people- I really like them.

It was a great day. At first it was super hard because this was my first major pass (since I skipped Forester Pass), and it was full of snow and STEEP. They're strong hikers, but I was sucking air- BIG TIME! But they stopped early (1:30-2pm) and I hadn't planned to stop but they were so much fun. Lucky Larry (LL) was fishing and I talked to Reddy & Jellybean. I even tried fishing and caught 2 fish. It was super fun. LL made fishing gear for us from fishing line, sticks & pine cones. He's such a good teacher, that he told me, "Throw that pepperoni baited line in that spot there." I did- and BAM!- I caught a fish- in the FIRST CAST! Then we made a fire (don't tell the authorities) and got warmed up and Avo (male 24 Bellingham) and JackS (male 22 Albert Lea) came by and stayed the night too. Around 9 pm someone said, "It's late, gotta get up in the morning." And that's when it hit me- I'm still on the trail- it was back to "work" tomorrow. But the day was really nice. We had more passes (climbing) coming up.

[Thank you Bonanza Jellybean for the photos. I didn't have a camera during this section of the trail.]
