a geek in crater lake
Oregon, Day 6
Crater Lake was amazingly beautiful. I'm sure I took 100 pictures. The trail winds around the lake for 6 miles or so and the views are non stop.I got up at 7am and hung around the Mazama store drinking coffee. After that I hoofed it up to the rim. I ate lunch at the swanky lodge. They didn't even bat an eye at a smelly hiker. In fact, a couple of older ladies asked how the hike was going. The food was good and the views awesome. Then I did the 6 miles around the lake. At one point, I just stoppped for a half hour to soak up the views. Amazing.
The rest of the day was fine. Even with all the lollygagging, I was able to still get in 22 miles. Not bad. I spent a good part of the day with 6 thru hikers.
