500 down

I Will Walk 500 More

I passed the 500 mile mark today and returned to the blistering hot desert. I misread the water report and arrived at a dry tank after walking without water for two miles. A quick glance at the report showed I had another 6 miles to go to the full tank. 8 miles in 85 degree heat in the desert isn't fun without water, especially if one is already mildly dehydrated to start. If it had been much hotter it could have been a life threatening situation and I would have backtracked to a reliable source. As it was, I suffered, but completed a 28 mile day to Hikertown with out any obvious ill effects.

Thanks to the Saufleys, Tim, and the Andersons for their amazing hospitality. Unfortunately I was one day late for the annual nude oil wrestling event at the Andersons, but I did get to watch the video.
