Raging rapids

Pinchot Pass or bust

This is one of the easier passes to negotiate when there is snow but there were only teeny patches. My problem was the hot and sometimes windless climb from Wood Creek Bridge to the pass. By the time I reached the pass I was fried and was even tired descending the north side. I stopped early (4:00 pm) at a lakelet north of Lake Marjorie hoping I can still make it to Mather Pass tomorrow.

This is a nice little lake - almost not visible from the trail. It is also at 11,100' elevation so I hope the bug count is low.

The high country was especially nice today but I was slogging away so hard, I barely noticed it.
