Washington
This journal needs a stinking update! I'm in Washington, still walking, and when I'm not walking I am walking some more. Lately though, I have been sleeping in a bit later in the morning and taking time out to savor the sweet flavor of all of the huckleberries that line the trail. I wish huckleberries were bigger, then it wouldn't take so long to pick a mouthful, or better yet, a belly full. The majority of southern Washington has not impressed me, but the Goat Rocks blew me away. I walked through the high points of the Goat Rocks as some clouds were forming below me, and if it weren't for Mount Rainier poking its top out of the distant white fluff it would have felt as though I was standing on the edge of the Earth. At times like that I realize how great this Summer has been, and I get such a charge that I can't decide if I want to laugh or cry. What a trip! Amazing! Approximately 325 miles until I'm sitting in Manning Park Lodge, soaking my stupid looking mustache in the foam of a celebratory Canadian brew. Mmm.
