Big Bear

Well I made it to HWY 18 just outside of Big Bear last night around 9PM. Did 25 miles yesterday...woohoo! Never thought I would ever hike that far in one day LOL. My feet are killing me today but it felt great...I've done 265 iles so far...YEH!

My friend Brad has been hiking with me sine day one but after this stop we will be going solo. He hikes alot faster than me and I can't keep up with hs pace or his long days most of the time. I'll miss his companionship but there are others on the trail I have met who are just as awesome! There has been a group of us that pretty much stay together and we leap frog each other all day and then sometimes camp in the same spots. They are really cool people! Some of them have dropped out but I am hoping they will not end their journey and continue atleast further down the trail.

The hike out of Idylwild was pretty treacherous. We hiked uphill on Black Mtn road for eight miles and then began our decent back on the PCT 7500' DOWN! Me, Brad (Jukebox) and Chuck Norris spent the night on the side of the mountain above the clouds with approximately 50 miles an hour winds and slidage on the hill. I couldn't even get up to go pee in the middle of the night in fear that mother nature would blow my sleeping bag away...LOL All night we kept sliding down and dragging ourselves back up sleepily in the night. We didn't get much sleep that night...none pretty much. Got up early...shoved everything in our packs and headed downhill again. It took most of the day but we rewarded ourselves with some fast food in Banning and a good nights sleep in a motel...yes we town failures now but it was worth the sleep...LOL We got back on the trail at HWY 10 with Warner Springs Monty, the next morning and did about 15 miles. It was really hot...I think it reached 95 that day. We camped at this great place beside a creek and there were bats flying around in the early evening...I LOVE BATS! They are soooo cute! The next day was a slow uphill and everyone was dragging....except Monty and Chuck apparently who met up with Tigger in her van a few miles past where we camped that night. Cheaters probly stayed in a hotel again..LOL JK y'all. Anyways...yesterday seemed a breeze, which is why we pushed the 25 miles. We past a place on the trail that trains wild animals for movies. They were really cute, but it was sad to see bears, lions and tigers in cages, knowing that's where they spend their entire lives...just so we can see them in movies. I got alot of pics and we talked to the guy working there...I was sad when I left though...those poor little creatures. They will be there forever as they are unable to survive in the wilderness after being raised in captivity. I saw a bear though for the first tie in the woods...unfortunately he too was in a cage. :-( The hiker appetite finally kicked in two days ago and now I can't stop eating ugh more weight I guess b/c I need more food...ugh LOL

I am at a friends house in Crestline now...will be in LA for a day then back on the trail again on Sat.

For those of u that have been keeping track of me on the SPOT...it doesn't show that I am on HWY 18 yet for soe reason...maybe it needs time to catch up who knows...sorry. I have been hitting the OK button too and it doesn't seem to be showing that but I am...other than the painful swollen feet. My friend Scott couldn't believe the size of them when I took off my shoes last night...guess it's all part of the game. Atleast I don't have blisters.

Also if u are tracking me on Postholer...the last time I checked the map on there it showed me in Taquitz...not sure why about that either...just keep tracking me on the SPOT.
