Tahoma At Devil's Postpile Monument

John Muir Trail

After breakfast at the Quality Inn Shin mailed his resupply packages
at th PO and we hitched a ride from a nice gentleman out for a few
days hike himself. He took us all the way up to the ski area where we
hopped the Reds Meadow. Up at the corrals I said hi to all the mules
for Nicola and fed some alfalfa to a couple braver ones.
We had decided to hiker the more rigorous but more scenic John Muir
Trail which parallels the PCT for several miles in this section. Lots
of ups and downs in half snow conditions but lots of beautiful snowy
lakes, Johnston, Rosalie, Garnet, Emerald and finally Thousand Islands
above which we camped.
Tomorrow a 6:00 am start and 20 miles to Tuolomne Meadows which has
buses the next morning down to Yosemite for sightseeing or we may walk
the 20 miles down. We'll see how we feel. Pretty tired tonight and
Shin's La Sportiva shoe which he's put less than 300 miles on has
sprung an annoying hole in the mesh. Love to All, Yay Nicola's flying
home to get well. I'm really going to miss my kiddos and home for the
4th.....:-((
