A Little More Snow

Too all o' me

That's how you pronounce Tuolomne Meadows our end point today and
gateway to Yosemite.
Shin and I hit the trail at 6:00 and climbed up to Donahue Pass on
nice firm snow following tracks left by both PCT'ers and JMT'ers (John
Muir Trailers).
We got there in 3 hrs just after Turbo (Tillamook, OR) which was
pretty good time and had a snack. A steep descent followed and the a
long flat several miles in peaceful Lyell Valley where the wide creek
lazily meanders through grassy boggy meadows. The last couple miles
winds down to the Ranger Station, parking lot, and campsites of
Tuolomne Meadows. Double bacon cheeseburger combo and a caramel
chocolate brownie beckoned to me. Tonight we camped and cooked dinner
with Ten Spot, Half Ounce, who's back on the trail after his bout with
pulmonary edema, Neon, Turbo, Fuzzy Monkey and MG. Good camaraderie.
About half of us are hiking down into Yosemite tomorrow (20 miles and
another little pass) while the rest continue on the PCT northward.
Shin has never been to Yosemite so he' looking forward to that and
hopefully we can get one of the walk-in permits to hike up the
backside of half-dome. Maybe even a room vacancy for the night would
be great. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Things are going well and my
only real complaint right. Now is that the antibiotic's stated
possible side effect of itchy skin seems to be valid for me; driving
me a bit crazy but I have little choice but to take the stuff for the
next several days and try to keep the wound dry. Happy 2nd of July!!
Sorry for the lack of pictures; gmail mobile won't let me attach any.
I'll try to add a bunch when we get to S Lake.
