Shasta with Fireweed
Not a whole lot to report today...some great views of Mt Shasta, some
heavenly fragrant Easter Lilies I'm sure Hana sent to cheer me up
along the trail, a hummingbird I watched darting in and out of the
fireweed, and painful left hip and right blistered heel still reeling
from the forty mile day Friday.
At least I listened to my body better today stopping at 26.4 miles
instead of pushing for 30 which Hui continued on to do. And as long as
I get to Dunsmuir before Wednesday night which I will easily do now,
there's no point to hurry up and wait.
Two highlights of the day were rinsing/washing my disgusting sweat and
dust caked shirt in a stream and washing my filthy legs in
Butcherknife Creek tonight.
I am oh so excited to get off the trail and rest, doesn't really
matter if it's on the train to Portland or in a cheap motel, my body
will love it. I also hope I can contribute to the tennis team effort
on the weekend.
Tomorrow we'll do about 24 and then coast into Dunsmuir with 12 or 13
miles Tuesday. Off to bed/bag.
