Pretty Pretty

Hopefully Getting Wiser...

Certainly getting older. Hope to reach Canada before I turn 58 on
October 4. Might be a little tight.
Today had a little more up and down than yesterday but I still made
good time and had 19 miles in before 1 pm lunch. I passed my first
northbound thru hiker yesterday in Princess and am now ahead of
Paparrazi only because he took a side jaunt to Etna. Hiked a little
ahead of Cheeseburger most of the day and we ate a nice dinner
together but he's going to log a few more miles tonight. 27 seems just
fine to me for the day after doing thirty yesterday. That leaves 21
tomorrow to get to the Etna highway and hopefully a quick hitch to
town for a milk shake, a bed and a resupply. Then off to Seiad Valley,
the last town before Orygun, Yahoo! Today was another day of going the
wrong direction, almost all south and west. I think tomorrow we
finally make the corner and head north.
Not much else to report except that my engraved buzz cut is getting
rave reviews and is marvelous for radiating heat and keeping me
I talked to Joe/Calorie tonight and they're taking a bus from Reno to
Burney and hoping to be on the trail tomorrow. At 180 miles behind me
it'll take them a while to catch me even doing the big days I know
they can do. Zeros for me in Ashland, Crater Lake and possibly Sisters
will help close the gap. Headed to bag early so I'll get to Etna
