Hike4Haiti project summary.

Thanks for building such a cool program! My name is NIck Hopkins and i a am Hiking the PCT NoBo starting at sunrise on may 15th 2010. I will be hiking to raise money for Architecture for humanity, a non profit group out of San Francisco that designs and builds structure's such as community centers and school's in places that need them following natural disaster. We are requesting the money that we raise for the hike4haiti project to be earmarked to rebuild schools in Haiti following the 2010 quake.
The idea hit me during the 2009 holiday season. I had the sudden urge to do something to benefit others in a large scale sort of way. I thought of this trip layout and i brought it up with a good friend of mine, Casey Shulz. Casey was excited about it as soon as i told her and we begun the planning process.Originally i was going to begun the hike in the summer of 2011, we begun to start with project proposals and search for a responsible organization to team up with. Right after the begining of the year, the earthquake hit. We saw the destruction on TV and all over the net and quickly decided that the summer of 2010 was a go and we had a lot of work to do before may 15th.
Wiothin 2 weeks we had on our side , and we have allready begun to take donations. the donation scale is as follows.

To Donate check out the other blog >
Any amount of money whether large or minuscule adds up and benefits the children of Haiti!
1 penny a mile x 2,655 = 26.55.
5 cents a mile X 2,655 = 132.75
1 USD a mile x 2,655 = 2,655 Bucks and we will do whatever you want on our video blog. And a place on our silk banner to show off in pictures and movies as well as the start and finish ! Whole arm tattoo ( temp )of your business?
Also considering growing a beard for charity, a buck an inch maybe? from a bunch a people it could work out good !

100% OF ALL DONATED FUNDS GOES DIRECTLY TO ARCHITECTURE FOR HUMANITY , I will funding all my gear, food and transportation.

I'm super excited about this trek, Like i said i'm leaving may 15th and i would like to be done by September 15th. Ive got allot of backountry experience but no trips over 10 days. I'm very confident and i am preparing my body for the physical and dietary changes by making preemptive changes to my body now. I will do my best to keep this journal updated! Woot ! PCT class of 2010 !
