First Slugs of the Trip

Rough Day (19 miles in 13 hrs)

Excellent breakfast compliments of the Brattens, then they drove me to the trail head. About 4 miles in, Ralph passed me. Past Myrtle Flat, the blow downs got really intense! I couldn't cross a stream at the crossing, so I went about 100 yards upstream and found a spot underneath a waterfall. The blow downs ended when the snow began! No breaks today. Saw two beautiful bears. One bolted right away, and the other was indecisive and gave me the hairy eyeball. It really didn't like the sound of me banging my trekking poles together and took off.
