Pacific Crest Trail Map

Zero day-s

Well, after 2007 miles, on Friday, August 27th, I got off the trail at Santiam Pass outside of Bend, OR. It was time to pay attention to the pains in my feet and take more than one zero day. I went up to Trail Days on Saturday in Cascade Locks which was a lot of fun. There were hikers there that I hadn't seen in a few weeks/months and it was great to catch up with people's journeys. On Sunday I took the train back to Seattle. Will I get back on the trail this year? I really don't know and will have to see next week how I'm feeling. If I don't get back on the trail, that's OK with me. I would love to finish the hike, I want to see the rest of the trail, but finishing another year is fine too. It's been an amazing adventure and I am very proud of walking 2000 miles! But I'm not in my 20's and my body needs more recovery time. Also, the thought of hiking into October just wasn't appealing. So here I am back in town and, honestly, I seem to be adjusting quite quickly. I've yet to drive a car since March, but everything feels very familiar. It's a bit overwhelming to have so much 'stuff' after living out of a backpack for so long, and this 'stuff' spreads out across my room (i.e., I don't have to put everything away every day like I did packing up each morning on the trail). But, so far, it's been a very easy transition back to life in Seattle...yea, well, I've only been here 3 days.
Thank you all for your encouragement, support and packages! Looking forward to catching up with folks in person. Ah, dinner is on the table and it's time to eat (that's all I do all day, it seems).
