Pacific Crest Trail Map

D-U-N done!

got 'er done.
Welcome from Dan Diego, CA. It's a lazy mf'n sunday here, with football and bloodies and such. Chickens in the yard and sunny skies, yessiree bob.

Warner Springs was a cool spot for our last zero. We soaked in the hot pool and didn't move much except while in Julian, CA for dinner & groceries. Then for no good reason we decided that our last day could be a 40. And so it was. I strolled up to the monument at 5:00 PST, just in time for a discrete beer (Stone Arrogant Bastard! Thanks Moosie!) with the sunset. Gangles & Steiner traipsed in just after dark, with no headlamps!! :-) We hit up a taco stand in Campo and had a beer back @ Moosie's.
The last section of trail kinda sucked, for lack of better words. Badly overgrown with every prickly vegetation imaginable, some parts here were a real chore. But we ground it out and had fun on the 40. wohoo! had to do a 40 while still 40, get it?

So, what sort of sage advice or deep realizations can I post up here? Not much. I still like to hike. My body held up quite well, I did take better care of myself than on the AT. I don't recommend a flip-flop like I did, unless you like logistical complexity. Pretty freakin' amazing I could pull this off, very fortunate to have Steingles & Barrell Roll & Moosie to facilitate! I don't think I'd ever southbound the PCT. WA & OR are gonna be mosquito hell, then you'd finish in the desert...which I can assure everyone, lacks any drama or beauty that could ever challenge the north Cascades.

As for deeper stuff and gear reviews, that's gonna go on my site, www.JamesScottThomas.com

For now, I should shout out some thanks to people:
Catherine Boggs: the cookset and mp3 were the f'n best! thanks again!
Ross & Merf: preesh the maildrop helpage! great support from back east.
Barrell Roll: dude you got skills..!
Saufleys, Dinsmores, KM Tom, Heitmans, Jaira, Red Moose, Idyllwild Pizza Co., 5th Season, Yurtwoman, Ride Angels in Etna, Sisters, Sonora, Shasta, Skykomish, Tehachapi...
this list could go on forever and I'll probably add to it later.

This was a fun ride. Pics and reflective mish-mash will appear soon.

Right now I must go lie down again.
