So, I find it funny how my mind automatically adjusts to training for this trail. I have actually had several turns of fate that led me not having a car and instead having a bus pass to get everywhere. Sometimes I get impatient waiting for the bus, so I walk to the next stop, and then the next. Before I know it I am at my destination. Now if the trail was as easy as getting to my sisters's house and back, and it didn't get above 17 degrees today.
I really am starting to be in full swing with training and planning. It is nice that I have planned this hike before so I do already have a lot of insight on what an undertaking it is. In 2008 I planned on hiking from Campo to Mt. Whitney. Five hours before I was to board an airplane and fly to California to hike, I decided to jump an 8 foot bonfire, rolled my ankle and boarded the plane 12 hours later in a wheelchair. Spent a good amount of the summer just sitting around in Idyllwild pissed at myself. Needless to say April of 2010 will have no bonfires and definitely no jumping.
But here I am ready to do it, but this time I have decided to shoot for the moon, or in this case Canada. Very excited and I feel as if I am finally in the right head space to accomplish my goal. We'll see if I'm saying the same in 6 or 7 months.
Still not sure on a start date. If anyone is interested in giving their objective opinion on this, please see my guestbook. All responses are greatly appreciated.
