Last Day!!!!!

Set alarm for 2 am....figured I needed that much time for the final 12 miles. Planned to hike the trail out, but it was impossible to see even with the headlamp. The wind was still howling and had blown the sand all around. After packing up, I was disoriented and it took a while to even find the trail.I followed the trail down to the road, but then couldnt find it again after crossing the parking lot. I had only 2 choices, either lay back down and wait for dawn and miss todays train, or hike the road out, 10 miles, and hope to catch the train. So I decided to road walk the final leg... It was really creepy out there all alone in the pitch black....No traffic, not itll I got near the end. Kept singing Chris Youngs, "the man I want to be" the whole way out... Thought I could join the stock trail as it croosed the road I was walking on, but never saw where it crossed at. I did run in to a couple of cars as I was almost done with the 10 miles, so I ducked in to the trees to avoid any confrontation. It only took till 530 to get to hwy 138. Much faster than I thought possible. Then I walked east to where the PCT crosses. I hid in the trees and changed my clothes..Actually had to wait a bit to hitch hike as it was too dark. But, after only 3 cars , a pick up stopped and some wonderful folks gave me a ride. Dropped me right off across from the train station. I snakced at the convenience store and waited an hour or so till the train came,,,, loaded up and headed home! It wasnt till the train ride home i figured out how many miles I had done in a 24 hour span, 26 miles between 6 am and 8 pm, then 12 more from 2 am -6 am.....38 miles in 24 hours...LOL..... tricked my body into my best ever long distance day! What a way to finish this hike!!!! Look out Wylie and Rosie (dogs) I come!!!!!
