Ready, Set, Go

Ready, Set, Go!

Exciting Day. After having to get off trail last year due to a stress fracture of my foot, I am back. In 2009, I hiked 600 miles from Campo to two days north of Tehachapi. I have butterflys in my stomach. It is 90 F and getting a late start. This year, I am joined by my good friend Chris whom I have known for 20+ years. We have been on many hunting/hiking/skiing/kayaking/cabin adventures in Alaska. Her husband, Bill, has graciously allowed me to steal Chris for a month of hiking in the High Sierra. We are delivered to the Kennedy Meadows Campground Trailhead by my good friends Patty and Mike Mosher of Tehachapi. Mike and Patty rescued me last year from near Robin Bird Spring, Mile 602.2. Talk about Trail Angels! I have jumped ahead about 100 miles this year with the concern of waterless sections. I will be back someday to make up that stretch. After a send off high carb breakfast and a steak dinner the night before, Chris and I embark on a 30+ day adventure. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the country ahead and smell the roses so to speak.
