Enjoying a Cool One

Reds Meadow

It was an interesting three mile stroll into Reds Meadow today. We hiked through a burn area that was loaded with Sierra Gooseberry bushes. We didn't know what they were at the time and couldn't believe the place wasn't crawling with bears eating these inviting berries. We stopped in at the store and grabbed a six pack and headed to the BLM Campground. There is a bathhouse there where you can get a free shower that is heated by a nearby hot spring. It looked like it dated back to the 60's and was alittle creepy, but no PCT hiker turns down a free, hot shower. Got in clothes and all! After setting up camp and showers, we took in the local sights Devils Postpile National Monument and Rainbow Falls.
