Setting the start date

Looking at starting between April 14th and 20th... will decide by this weekend.

I have a friend joining me for the first 3 weeks which is SO great. I'm cool with solo hiking, but I really love this gal, and to have her support at the initial get-go really means a lot to me. Also, since we'll be starting before the pack at the kickoff, and I'm feeling a tad less in-shape than I'd wish, and my friend has a permanent (but minor) foot injury I'm thinking we can start out with low miles and some zero days, enjoy ourselves, eat healthy and well, plenty of "re-supply" boxes every 4-6 days plus restaurant stops and some motels before plunging into the smokin' hot waterless sections. But shouldn't it be less smokin hot a week or two earlier than most hikers will hit places like Whitewater?

well, I'm pumped. I can totally do this
