Welcome to my PCT Trail Journal. As a frequent visitor to the beautiful San Diego County back country, I find myself gaining lots of valuable hiking experience through day hikes and now, with the addition of all new gear, Backpacking Trips. Since we have such beautiful weather here in San Diego, it is possible to plan multiple day backpacks all winter long.

Please come visit my journals regularly throughout the year for trip reports, training stats, gear info and more as I prepare myself to live on the trail; Leaving behind my soft bed and warm showers every night.

I have completed the evaluation hike for wilderness basics and the results are in: about 1200ft elevation gain over 1.8 miles in 36 minutes! All these day hikes have paid off!

After many months of thought I have finally settled on a resupply strategy that I feel will work best for me. I plan to buy all my supplies on trail, mailing ahead from the trail to locations where I cannot buy food. I believe this will keep my diet balanced, tasty and I won't get tired of the same food over and over...

My planned date of departure is May 1, Immediately following Kick Off. This is in line with my resupply strategy. Follow most of the herd and eat some of their contributions to the hiker boxes!

Entry into Canada Via the Pacific Crest Trail Permit Application has been APPROVED! WooHoo! Canada here I come!!!!

My thru permit has come in the mail! All the little details are coming together!

I am very happy to report that Sierra Club Wilderness Basics Course is complete! I attended every class, went on all the outings and survived Snow Camp! Next year I plan to take the class again-its free next year since I graduated!

I feel more confident at this point in my ability to complete my journey north to Canada! I honostly do not believe, (after taking the class) that If I had not taken this course, I would not make it all the way. Thanks to all the staff and my new friends that I have made over the course of the class!

HYOH (Hike your own Hike)

See ya on the trail

Pacific Crest Trail - 2011

The truly simple life exists within the zippers of my backpack, powered by my own legs, burning only natural fuel, leaving no trace I was ever there.
