Day 24 - Last Dry Day

After yesterday's foodfest it was time to back to business. Heading north out of Walker Pass the trail bounces up and down a couple thousand feet at a pop. The grade was fine but finally the heat that we heard so much about struck. Many folks including myself took an afternoon siesta. After an hour and a half nap I ate both lunch and dinner then headed back on the trail for the final 13 miles. I absolutely flew on those miles. I think I'm nearly 100% physically and my pace is getting faster. I still haven't tried to run the downhills as I'm afraid my leg will start hurting again. We will see in a couple of days.

Tomorrow is Kennedy Meadows, the end of the SoCal section. I have enjoyed this first 700 miles much more than I thought. The vast extremes of terrain were the highlight.

I'm camped out under a nearly full moon above 6000 ft. I wanted to camp high to acclimate to the high Sierra elevations.
