a beautiful day in my neighberhood
Firstly I would like to thank ALL the people who have made it possible for ME to be writing in a journal that I myself have been reading for the past several years. I've learned so much from you Hikers who have walked along the Pacific Crest Trail. The women of "why not" and "why wait".
"lucky larry","miss Alaska","elderly Ellen","jelly bean"and theres "lil budda","the flying kiwi's" there's "dreams" and a especially an on going thanks to Joe"Oz" and so much more to thank for helping me gather much for this journey. To me,You people have been heroic in you quest. I thank my family and friends who have encouraged me and have often asked me to take a hike. Yes, I will be taking a hike, a long one and I'm going to walk as far as my feet will take me. One day I want to be my own hero.
On a 70's spring like day here in southern California I took a 4 I/2 hour walk through the Santa Monica mountains. It was beautiful and everyone I saw took advantage of the day. I had walked up and down Thu the canyons and meadows. It was also a day to check out some of my gear as well. Happy to find, Spot , my personal gps is up and working. However, the 2 litre bag purchased at my favorite international store(walmarts), wasn't working. Although the bag had a small seam leak, it did cool my back and was greatly appreciated. I might have to get a water bag at one of the local sport shops. As I walked I kept thinking of the pacific crest trail and visualizing walking the trails ahead. Although, I've walked on parts of the pct in our western states, its a thrill to think I will be leaving shortly from Campo to start walking the entire Pacific Crest Trail on March 11.......Yes, I know it's an early start, but I'm a slow walker and I do want to stop off to see old friends along the way. Will there be snow, sleet, hail and rain, probably,I hope to be prepared, but that's the adventure, isn't it?
I'm Going As Far As My Feet Will Take Me
