Pacific Crest Trail Map

Onward and Upward

After a couple of hours on a Greyhound Bus and a 60 mile hitch, I'm back on the trail again. I left a couple of weeks ago to pursue better health and to finish what I set out to do.I'm back at this time, better prepared with a lighter pack,( sorry REI), better equipment including better food, thank you MaryJaneFarms for organics also light hiking boots and my healthy snacks and 3 liters of water including Vitalytes to insure me this time my hydration will be controlled. Hopefully, I will find the creeks and water holes to fill my canteen. And yes with my Spot gps I also have a a cell phone. I believe I'm better prepared than I was the first time around. Learning that a tent keeps me rested and out of the weather after a long day walking. Although a tarp would suffice during the summer outings, I felt with inclement weather, a tent is a better alternative. So now I have about 4 days of food and I'm not even counting a stop at Mom's in Julian for the free lunch for all PCT Hikers. I've been there before and their apple pie is worth a detour where ever you happen to be.....It was good to hear from my coffee pals at the JCC who are cheering me on. I love it when I told them of the journey I chose, and they asked me how will I get back from Canada! Good supportive pals like, Al#2, Joseph,Eugene,Marv and of course Raul who keeps the place warm and friendly. They have all inspired me to continue the journey that I knew I would. I'm thinking about attending the kick off party at the end of this month. It would be great to meet all those hikers I once read about, but I will have to wait and see how far along the trail I am. My goal was to go as far as I could and going back at this time doesn't seem to feel right just now......Decisions, decisions.
