We made it to Canada!!! We didn't do it on our own though. We had the best trail angels and we met so many wonderful people. Our heartfelt thanks to Betty and Elroy, Mel and Nina, Diana, Janice, Jill, Rachel, Kevin, The Worleys, Alice, Sparrow, Not Phil's Dad, the Sauffleys, the Andersens, Robert and Sir Barkalot, Lloyd, Todd and Kristen, and Matt and Eva Lis.
Last night we camped near the monument. There was a nice campground nearby. The 9 miles into Manning Park were easy downhill walking. We made it into the lodge before Janice and Kevin arrived so we enjoyed a second breakfast. They walked into the restaurant as we finished: perfect timing. Janice had prepared a really nice treat for us. When she opened the back of her pick-up, there was champagne and chocolates. We opened it right away and the first drink was straight from the bottle. Best party in a parking lot that I've ever been to.
So 764 miles last year and 1,050 this year for a total of 1,814 miles. We still have PCT miles available if we want to walk the whole thing. We haven't decided yet. My goals of reaching Canada, walking more miles than last year, and lose at least 25 pounds were met. I'm able to wear clothes I haven't fit into for ages; one dress even has shoulder pads, that's how old it is.
It's an experience I would highly recommend. I feel so lucky to be able to walk the PCT for as long as I did.
Hope you enjoyed the journal and thanks for reading!
