Clothing and testing

Well I went to visit my family near yosemite over the weekend, forecast said cold rain and possible snow so I was really excited to go there, stay the night and test my new Montbell jacket and some warm layers/dri ducks in the rain/cold. Well, turns out some times (or often) meteorologists are wrong and it snowed a foot over night, and another foot over the course of the day. Overnight trip turned into a two night trip as the plows were only getting the main road; despite the fact that the main junction box for a 10 mi. radius was on my mom's street and PG&E had to snow show in to get to it instead of just plowing the 40 feet of road to it that would have also resulted in me not being stuck and a majority of the town having power. Missed a day of work (not complaining), but now I am back home in the beautiful Los Angeles weather of 60F and feelin' fine.

Gear Tests:

There is a lot more, but I don't really want to get into gear talk bc frankly I find it boring in a lot of cases. On the plus side, I got an insane massage from my aunt who is a massuese, I was sore all day yesterday, but today my posture is perfect and I feel great! I also got to spend time with my brother, his gf, mom and aunt. Went sledding, shoveled the deck and driveway twice in two days w/ my bro. Ended up shoveling about 500 feet of road to finally get out.

- DriDucks

Pros: cheap (15 USD), super light, very water resistant, really worked great! Cons: Fragile (but cheap!), outrageously oversized (size small jacket is any other companies XL)

- Montbell Thermawrap Parka

Pros: super light, super compressible, wore it with a long sleeve lightweight wool shirt and was downright HOT while outside in snow. Cons: 175 USD, ouch.
