Pacific Crest Trail Map

Harts Pass

We left camp and started a seven mile descent to Brush Creek at 4,300 feet.
After crossing the creek we climbed a canyon through overgrown brush to
Glacier Pass at 5,500 ft. The trail continued uphill via many long
switchbacks until we reached a water source at 6,600 ft, this is probably
the last reliable water for 20 miles so we will need to carry extra water.
The trail continued up and over Tatie Peak at 6,900 ft before starting the
descent to Harts Pass. The area prior the Harts Pass was burn't in a large
fire in 2003, there is a long way to go before it will return to being
healthy. We were happily surprised to be greeted by a Trail Angel named
"Slick B " with Trail Magic including burgers, dogs, pop and beer. After
visiting with other PCT hikers while enjoying the Trail Magic we setup
camp nearby.
The trail and surrounding mountains were highlighted with fall colors
including golden Tamarack Trees. The smoke from the fires near Wenatchee
is really obscuring the distant mountains and messing with our photos.
