Goat Lake and Castle Mtn
Norse Peak
I begin my retrograde hike this am and stop on way back to Chinook Pass to walk up Norse Peak and stroll along the high ridge north for a long mile or so. Is a very clear day and I can see North into the High Cascades looming in the distance. Norse truns out to be an ideal (and very easy) spot for PCT hikers to view the next weeks trail walking going North. All the lower elevation area from here to Snoqualmie Pass is laid out in the foreground, with the mass of the North Cascades, the snow capped peaks and high ridges looming underneath (on a clear day) a brilliant blue sky. However I-90 and the big mountains will not be for me. I reluctantly head back to the pass parking lot and my ride out, and other obligations to meet. These now will keep me off the PCT for the rest of the season this year.
