Preparations
Well as usual the weather keeps making wonder how soon to start. Reports from folks already on the trail indicate there is still snow in the Big Bear area. And of course the Southern California mountains have been getting more snow. I was not planning on taking any snow gear but since there is still snow near Big Bear I will opt for taking my ice axe and maybe a pair Kahtoola snow spikes. There is a a relatively steep and high section before getting into the Big Bear Lake area but better to be safer than sorry.
