Food, food, and more food.
Planning meals for 24 days is a daunting task! I can't imagine doing it for the entire trail (6 months!) Today I made "Joe's Ultralight Moose Goo" - a super high calorie goo for putting on tortillas. (Made from peanut butter, honey and corn flour.) I'm putting all of my food into ziploc bags and writing the calorie info on them. People recommend eating 3000 calories a day...but I'm looking at maybe 2500 a day. It's really difficult to fit 3000 calories a day for 6 days into a bear canister! It just doesn't fit.
I'm almost done getting my food ready for my resupply boxes, but I have to mail the first one out tomorrow, so I need to finish up other resupply things like bandaids, sunscreen and mosquito spray. I've made a ton of trips back and forth to the store - seems like just when I get home I realize there's something else I need! Good thing it's close! Tonight Mom and I wandered around Walmart forever looking for some sort of tube-bag for the "goo" - we ended up just settling on ziploc bags.
Maybe I'll post my gear list before heading out.
T minus 4 days!
On The Earth
Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity. I learned that the world has a soul, and that whoever understands that soul can also understand the language of things.
