Gear Review and Advice

This man and Andrew Skura are most likely best resources for sub 10lbs ultralight.

Basically what I found is you need:

-A backpack (ULA circuit was heavy) - Now I'd consider something 16OZ or less: Ex: http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=140
-Sleeping bag sub 28oz - Now I'd use a quilt
a tarp (MLD cuben fiber was perfect) best if doubles as poncho
a sleeping pad (3/4) length with sit pad under hip
a .9L evernew pot
a cat can stove
A Titanium Spork, and small lighter x2
Victorinox swiss army knife
Headlamp
Smartphone
Camera (Something like a Pentax WG-3)
An umbrella w/ mylar
Less clothing then you think (Shorts, T-shirt, Bandana, wind shirt, down vest, fleece hat, d-feet socks, wind pants)
Less medical garbage then you think (a couple bandaids, some floss, a needle, duct tape, athletic tape, single use antiseptic, IBuprofen)
After using the Titanium Goat bivy I would like to try the: http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=30 (I loved my bivy and rarely had to set up my shelter)
Some shoes that work for you
and some water containers, with a 10ml dropper of bleach in case you have to drink from a beaver pond.

Basically that's it. I might be missing a couple small things, but for the most part, what I found, is that backpacking ultralight, just means you don't carry any "What if" items, and you always ask yourself "Why should I need to carry XYZ?"

Keyword concept: What do I NEED, vs what might I want?
