Pacific Crest Trail Map
I got up and had a nice breakfast at the Best Western - anything is nice compared to what you eat on the trail in the Desert.
Talked to a guy who had injured his leg on the last segment and he was bailing out - a relative from Santa Rita was picking him up later the day. As a result I started thinking real hard if I really wanted to continue with my feet huring the way they were.
Final decison after quickly researching some travel options was to get a taxi to Hesperia and then rent a Car one way to LAX and fly home.
I hated to whimp out but I needed to get somehting fixed to correct my feet hurting so bad.
My original plan was to hike to mile 560 and Tehacapi, CA, rent a car there and pick my wife up at LAX on Friday, May 25th. We were going to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversay over the holiday weekend and then I was going to drive back to Tehacapi and return to the trail hiking the final 145 miles to Kennedy Meadows before ending this year's section hike.
WE are still flyiing out to LA from Dallas and spend the weekend. I got a one way ticket and am planning on returning to Hwy 15 at mile 343 and giver another go.
This time I am prepared with new shoe inserts, plenty of electolyte ...3 different types, no tent and less weight over all.
I should be back on the trail very early on Tuesday morning, May 29th. The McDonalds opens at 5 am and I will hopfully be well into the firey furnace before the sun comes up and it heats up.
