Day 60, The Day We Finished the PCT

For the last three years I've wondered how this day would be, what would I be feeling? I'm happy to say it was exactly like a normal day on the PCT. We were walking early in the morning, our favorite time of the day, and we enjoyed the calm of walking. It still felt good, physically and mentally, to be walking. Sure, there was the flutter of excitement and a sense of amazement not only to be almost at the finish line, but also at the scope of this hike. This year when we came to the end point, it was a bit anti-climatic though compared to last year at Canada. Last year there was music, champagne, other hikers celebrating, and a bold border line. This time it was deadly desert quiet with only cactus around. We kissed, said for the hundredth time how hot it was, and took a picture by the PCT sign.

People often ask what was your favorite area and I would have to say Washington and the High Sierras. Then the question of why would you do this always comes up. I wanted an adventure and a physical challenge to test myself. I'm super lucky to have the time and means to do the PCT, but more importantly, I'm super lucky to have a husband that didn't hesitate to say yes when I asked him to do the PCT. Of course our trail angels made this experience even better with their love and support.
