Early morning light on Chimmey Rocks

Day 59

We were walking at first light to enjoy the morning cool. The trail took us along several ridges for views down to the desert, but the best thing about a ridge is the breeze. We passed through one canyon where several turkeys were in a tree, I guess, complaining about us being in their neighborhood. They were loud. All of the water sources except one were dry and we expected this. I had 8 lbs of water and Steve had 10. By the time we came to the third mountain in our day, we were ready to stop. We were close enough to the spring to use it so we selected a level spot and enjoyed our last night of tent time. We have the routine down when it comes to setting up camp (and breaking it down in the morning). I'm going to miss that. Didn't really need sleeping bags because the night was so warm. Yogi warned about bear activity near the spring, however the desert was oh so quiet.
