Welcome

^^^ This journal won't be complete until November. It is in draft mode ^^^

The PCT is a 2,663 mile (4,286 km) hiking journey spanning from Canada to Mexico through Washington, Oregon and California. I wanted to hike the PCT to have some time and space to reflect about my past, appreciate the present and explore my future.

Some more info about going south-- the most common thru-hike attempt is from the Mexico/California border to the Washington/Canada border, however I'm attempting it in reverse, or "southbound". No one completed a successful southbound attempt in 2011 (w/ the exception of speed record holder SW, who started in August) due to the dangerous snow conditions throughout the Cascades in June and July. This year Luke and I are attempting the southbound route and we'll be starting in the middle of June and if successful, would finish sometime in November. Why southbound? The challenge, baby!

Update 8/19/12

As far as we know there were about 30-35 hikers who attempted the southbound thru-hike this year and it seems no one made it through Washington successfully (either skipped the hairy sections or skipped Washington altogether) except for Team Spiderbark! Go team. Also, we heard there are about 700+ northbounders this year!
