cascade locks

We made Cascade Locks after a spectacular hike down the beautiful "Eagle Creek Trail" . It's is a favorite with locals and hikers because of its' many water features and rain Forrest like surroundings. The highlight was Tunnel Falls where narrow cliff like trail goes just behind a 200+ foot waterfall, amazing!
We made our jump off at cascade locks at 12:00 noon and stopped at "Char Burger" for a fill-up, then the rv/motel for a shower and laundry before family/friend Jack, picked us up. He gave us the tour of the Columbia river gorge and its highlights such as the Bonniville Dam project, (VERY interesting); Again a 1930s depression project of the FDR administration; the "navigation gates" and the "fish ladder" we're really neat as we got to catch a set a barges going thru the "gates" and the an annual salmon run and watch the huge fish traverse the ladders from under water windows, a must see!
Any now we are in Vancouver, Wash. We're getting ready to catch our train back to So Cal and resupply then back here in 8 days to start the final push for Canada before, cross our fingers, snow and winter hits the northern cascades, stay tuned Jerr/Matt
